When I Think
When I think of all the ways
I’ve tried to say I love you—
When I think of all the things
you do that make me love you—
The quiet times when we are close
the long and raucous passion
the way we glance across the room
and always feel compassion
When I think—
The words flow forth and tumble down
in cascades from my heart
and still do not begin to tell
how we can never part
A love like ours—beyond all words
beyond our hugs and kisses
beyond the days we carry tight
beyond the reminisces
A love like ours will always live
from here to the hereafter
and every eon find anew
our joy, our tears, our laughter
When I think,,,
